Fantastic guide and hospitality

Yasu was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. He met me promptly at the Asakusa train station and we walked to the Sumida River where he explained the history of the river and the architecture surrounding it. We then proceeded to visit Senso-ji shrine, which is incredibly beautiful and surrounded my local crafts people selling handcrafted foods and goods. He explained the foods and bought samples for me to try. The sweet bread is a definite treat—hot, crunchy top, and fluffy texture! One of the things that most impressed me about Yasu, is that when I asked a question he didn’t know the answer to, he found out and emailed me the information after our tour. Finally, I mentioned I love knives and kitchenware so he told me about a place called kitchen street and then ended the tour by walking me over to it. I highly recommend this tour and will be sure to use his company again in my next trip to Tokyo.

Great Tour with Sachiko!

My sister and I had a wonderful tour of the Asakusa region including the Sensjo Temple. Sachiko did a fabulous job of taking us around the area and sharing her knowledge of the area.

Very Indepth Exploration of Asakusa

We really enjoyed the tour with Taka. He took his time to explain the surroundings in depth, we really enjoyed our conversations with him; it was a true cultural exchange. One thing that I learned with him was the proper way to enter the temple; so many people were using the water incorrectly and it was nice to understand the ritual from a Japanese perspective. I also liked learning about the cute little Otanuki-sama. The snacks were delicious; I may have never tasted them without this tour. Taka also helped with some restaurant recommendations for after the tour which was also really appreciated.

Excellent tour with Yasu

We did a morning tour with Yasu and, even though it was a very rainy day, we had a great experience thru the old Tokyo. Of course, thanks to the kind and dedicated Yasu. He told us about old Tokyo and let us know and try traditional Japanese dishes.
I truly recommend to select Yasu as a guide, he’ll lead trough an unforgettable Tokyo experience.

Great way to get the most out of the area

Had a great tour with Yoko, my tour guide. I would say I already have a decent background in Japanese culture, yet I still learned so much more. Yoko was very knowledgeable not only about the area’s sights but the deeper meanings behind Japanese customs and pretty much had an answer to any question I could think of. I’d say this is a perfect tour even for those already initiated to Japanese culture.

We covered a lot of ground and I really appreciated seeing the different side streets around Sensoji Temple. I’d recommend not coming too hungry, there are way too many snacks to eat around here! I don’t think it’d be possible to cover the entire shitamachi area within a few hours but I left the tour feeling like I could definitely handle coming back at a later time and enjoy the area at my own snail pace, even with my very limited Japanese.

Asakusa – Take the tour, you’ll learn a lot and won’t be disappointed

The tour was excellent. Although I’ve lived in Tokyo a few years the tour provided an opportunity to learn about the history and culture in an in depth way that I truly haven’t experienced prior to this. Yoko’s expertise provided historical knowledge and anecdotes that I would have missed out on had I explored the area on my own. I particularly enjoyed learning about the various gates and lanterns in the temple. I also enjoyed learning about the tablets that tell the history of the temple. I highly recommend the tour. Well worth it.

Informative and educational tour of one of the oldest parts of Tokyo

Asakusa is one of the top destinations for people travelling through Tokyo for the first time and what better way to tackle it than with an experienced guide showing you the ins and outs of the area.

Providing in depth explanations of significant parts of the city, they also handled any other queries I had with no issue and even injected some of their personality in to the tour as well.

Definitely worth it if you’re looking to learn more about the area, and the small group size ensures you feel like part of the experience as well.

Asakusa – 1400 years of history

We had a wonderful morning with our guide Shoko who provided rich historical context to what we were seeing in Asakusa. The highlight of the morning was having tea in a little Tea house which gave us an opportunity to learn about the importance of tea in Japan.

All in all a tour that we could recommend without hesitation.

The temple and adjacent shrine were spectacular and the icons pointed out helped illustrate some of the history involved.

100% recommend Yasu!

Yasu was a great tour guide! He knows the Asakusa area very well, speaks fluent English and japanese. We did a nighttime tour and he gave us a very informative historical background of the city, brought us to several different local Japanese places that we would not have been able to experience without hes expertise. He introduced us to traditional Japanese cuisine and saki tasting, he explained different cultural and religious beliefs that helped us to better appreciate our time in Tokyo. Yasu’s informative tour encouraged us to go back to Asakusa the next day and do more exploring during the daytime, and this ended up being the highlight of our staying Tokyo. Definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tokyo! Yasu will not disappoint.

Izakaya Visit

Yasu was a friendly, knowledgeable tour guide. Despite there being only one couple on the tour (us), he helped keep the conversation going by sharing cultural and historical insights and asking us questions. The food at the first stop was delicious, especially the beef tendon stew.

This tour would be more interesting to us if the culture and history was shared primarily through the food found in Tokyo’s izakayas. There is a history there that we think visitors to Japan would be keen to hear.

Excellent Asakusa Tour

This tour was led by Yoko who was very knowledgeable about Asakusa and shitamachi neighbourhood. Not only did she show the main area of Asakusa along Nakamise to the temple and shrine, but also she showed the other areas around the main tourist area.
Yoko san explained history and culture of the region in excellent English, and was readily able to answer my questions.
Undoubtedly the highlight was the kaiseki lunch at the traditional restaurant with masterful demonstrations of Tsugaru style shamisen playing.
I certainly think that this is an excellent and informative tour for those who are trying to see typical and historical Tokyo in a short time.

Amazing experience!

We sprung for the hefty priced box seats, but they are WELL worth it! The tournament runs all day. A big stars matches start around 3:30. The pageantry and rituals are amazing to watch. We have become real small fan since attending the tournament!

Thank you Taka! Such an interesting tour

A very instructive tour , and fantastic experience . Not only we learned so much historical facts as our guide Taka was so knowledgeable , but we were also given a lovely tour of the area from alongside the river , taken for an amazing view at the top of the contemporary information building ( The design and architecture of it in itself very interesting ) . This was followed by a tour of very charming and authentic back streets in the vicinity . We learned so much and we were lucky to have Taka for ourselves as he did not have other bookings that morning . A big Origato Kata , you made a memorable moment of our time with you

Serge – Netherlands

Tour of temple area, as well as visiting an izakaya, sake bar, and Tokyo’s oldest bar. This tour would be better if it spent less time in the temple area and more time sharing culture/history through Japanese food.

Troy – United Arab Emirates

Our guide was very charming and knowledgeable. He had a very clear voice and spoke excellent English. He made the effort to show us interesting shops, such as a wood block engraving studio, which we would have missed without him.
